Your lawn is boring and ugly.
Your lawn is boring and ugly. Don’t worry though, my lawn was once boring and ugly too.
Full of weeds and patches of brown grass.
Lawns cost you time and money to maintain.
Time and money that could be spent on much more valuable ventures.
You spend money on a lawn mower.
You spend money on trimming.
You spend money on gas and maintenance to keep your equipment running.
You might even spend money on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
But you can never fix your boring, ugly lawn.
Why is a Green Lawn Important?
People once cleared forests around citites for wood and to see their enemies coming from afar. This created large fields of grasses.
In Victorian times, the wealthy had lawns as a status symbol. This showed that they were wealthy enough to not put their land to work.
But now, almost every house you see has a lawn. Lawns are no longer a symbol of status but rather a symbol of status quo.
Nowadays, lawns are great for playing golf on but not much else.
Unless you own a golf course, there are only 2 reasons you still spend time and money on your lawn:
- You have a deep desire to be the same as everyone else
- You have never considered any alternatives
Well I’m here to tell you there is another option and it doesn’t involve a lawn mower or hoardes of dandelions.
How do you get rid of weeds and fix brown grass in one day?
It’s very simple: get rid of the entire lawn.
We use a process called sheet mulching to cover your existing lawn and create a blank slate for planting. First, a layer of recycled cardboard (or multiple layers of old newspapers) to create a biodegradable weed barrier. Then a layer of plant mulch to provide ample biological matter that will decompose and feed your soil (and plants) for years to come. Top it all off with a layer of woodchips for a clean look and your lawn is gone!
No more weeds or brown grass.
The Secret to a Great Yard
At Carroll Property Services, we believe a great yard accomplishes 2 very important tasks:
- Providing you with a beautiful and relaxing living space
- Reducing your carbon footprint by sequestering carbon and conserving resources
The best way we’ve found of accomplishing these tasks is to plant a variety of native plants that will need very little watering and maintenance since they are accustommed to the climate. Native plant gardens provide much needed habitats for declining pollinator populations and can store tons of carbon dioxyde in the soil over their lifetimes. They can ad colour, texture, and depth to your landscape.
And the best part?
The natural beauty of your garden will make even your neighbors with the greenest grass insanely jealous!
